How this guide is put together

Short version: position comes from a formula, the data is re-pulled from Google every month, and anything commercial is labelled on the card where you can see it.

The editorial score

Every venue gets a score out of 100. It comes from a Bayesian average that weighs the venue's Google rating against how many people gave it:

score = (v / (v + 150)) × R + (150 / (v + 150)) × 4.3

R is the venue's rating and v is its review count. 150 is the point at which a venue's own rating carries half the weight, and 4.3 is the category average we pull it toward. The effect is that a 4.7 from 50 people does not automatically beat a 4.4 from 635, because the second result is far harder to produce and far less likely to be noise.

What gets on the list

Candidates come from Google Places, then three filters run before anything publishes: the venue must be trading, it must have a rating, and it must have at least 25 ratings behind that number. The last one matters most. A single five-star review is not evidence, and a list padded with them is not a guide.

Monthly verification

Ratings, price levels and trading status are re-pulled from the Google Places API every month. Each venue card shows the date its rating was last checked, so you can see how fresh the number is rather than trusting an undated claim.

Disclosure and independence

hamburger.ph is published by LocalEnhance, a local search agency. Some venues on this site are LocalEnhance clients. A few placements are paid. Three rules cover that:

  1. 1 Position is never sold. Rank comes from the score above. There is no field in our system that can override it, and no price that changes it.
  2. 2 Relationships are labelled where you see them. Client and paid venues carry a badge on their own card, not a line buried in a footer.
  3. 3 Paid links are marked for search engines too. Any paid placement's outbound link carries rel="sponsored", so the relationship is machine-readable and not just visible to readers.

What we do not do

We do not publish AI-generated photographs of real venues. Every photo on this site comes from Google Places and carries the name of the person who took it. We do not invent ratings: every number here carries its source and the date it was pulled, and a venue with no verifiable rating is not listed at all.

Corrections

If something here is wrong, including a venue that has closed since our last check or a ranking you think the data does not support, write to hello@localenhance.com and we will re-check it against Places and correct the page.
